[ . . . . . ah. Tenka glances elsewhere for a moment at that, considering what exactly he should say. It's true. Shirasu did do those things and Tenka hasn't forgiven him for it yet either. He probably never will.

But Tenka's anger always manifests itself differently. So he just sets some more sauce - BBQ sauce and teriyaki sauce - on the counter before walking over to Sousei and putting a hand on his shoulder.]

You're home now, so you need to eat.

[... Yeah. That's a a safe response. It's true, after all, and he knows it.

So, silently, he takes one of those dino nuggets and stares at it.

And then slowly he takes a bite of it.

Oh god it's so bad...........

Grimacingly, he chews.]

[ . . . . and at that, Tenka nudges all the sauces over to Sousei. Try something for your shitty tastebuds.

Regardless, he's just sighing and shaking his head. Okay, they can't exactly just.... ignore the ugly topic at hand.]

[The response is immediate, even as he reaches for...whatever sauce is right in front of him. Teriyaki sauce. In this bottle. Sounds legit.

He's going to dump it right on top, you might want to stop him--

But either way, he's certain that he doesn't want Tenka to talk to Shirasu about this. That would be pointless.]

I'm not looking for your protection or assistance. I'm just keeping you informed.

[ . . . . okay in all honesty, Tenka got the sauces for Sousei and a good portion of this food is for Sousei. So he doesn't stop him. Slather on all the sauce you want, partner, this is Tenka's small kindness.]

[But it's still hard for him to hear. Which he supposes is similar to what Sousei feels when Tenka talks about Shirasu so familiarly sometimes.]

[SAUCE EVERYWHERE-- okay no just dumped on top of some of the nuggets because he doesn't like them so this can only be an improvement.

... Yeah. He has an idea of what Tenka's thanking him for, and that just gets a pause out of Sousei, before he shakes his head.]

You shouldn't thank me for this. [Nobody should thank him for letting their parents' murderer go free without a word or action--even if Tenka's just thanking him for keeping him informed, Sousei doesn't want it.]

It doesn't matter now. [They probably won't cross paths again, after that confrontation.]

Still though Tenka just sighs as he rubs the back of his neck.]

I'm thanking you for the fact that you put aside what you wanted to do for the sake of keeping a promise.

[He never doubted Sousei's word - but admittedly the promise has gotten even more restricting since when he agreed to it.]

[Sousei considers that for a long moment, closing the sauce and setting it aside. He glances down at the food for a moment, and then he leaves it be, looking at Tenka instead and shaking his head.]

... I do not break my promises. [At this point, it's just a statement of fact. There's no malice behind it, no implications. It's only about Sousei, and Sousei doesn't renege on things people ask him to do.

Even when it's as hard as this.]

You do not have to thank me for that, either.
